Hero Twins details the adventures of two young brothers on the playground. The images are loosely based on legends from the Popol Vuh; a classic mayan book of mythologies.

“Far Away” is a series of Illustrations based on the play of the same name by Caryl Churchill. The Play, whose plot is concerned with a “world at war with itself”, details the absurd fear that can be created by war and those who participate in it. By the play's conclusion, its characters are afraid of not only other nations, but of other species and elements of nature.

The overwhelming fear that life has become repetitious and mundane gains relevancy. I look to my childhood and recall fond memories of adventures and discovery. I remember the exploration of new worlds and the fantasy that resulted from watching cartoons and television. I often long to adventure in exotic landscapes with Johnny Quest, to ride in flying cars with The Jetsons, and to solve menacing mysteries with Scooby Doo.

The images in “A Mundane Adventure” attempt to explore the relationship between reality and fantasy; between the “everyday” and the excitement that results when one deviates from the routine. I juxtapose miniature paintings of everyday objects with daydreams of escaping with the fictional characters I encountered in my childhood. I seek to find an answer or a remedy for the boredom that is birthed from the everyday.
